What is a vehicle information report?
A Vehicle Information Report (VIR) is generated to give information about a vehicle’s registration history in Alberta. You must provide the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), which is unique to every vehicle, and is required to run this report.
PLEASE NOTE: This report only gives the history of the vehicle in Alberta. If you need a more extensive search done for other provinces or countries, please order a CARPROOF search.

- Vehicle condition (i.e.: if it has ever been written off, active, salvage, non-repairable, unsafe, rebuilt, etc.)
- Vehicle registration information (date vehicle first entered on system, licence plate classification, registration history date and location. No personal information for any current or previous owner is shown, including licence plate numbers.)
- Lien information (number of liens which are registered in the province of Alberta) – if you require detailed information about the lien, such as the secured party and the party to whom the money is owed, can be determined by purchasing a separate Personal Property lien search)
