Write Off/Salvage Inspection

What IS a write-off/salvage inspection?

A salvage inspection is done on a vehicle that has been declared as a write-off (i.e.: the cost to fix the damage is more than the vehicle is worth), but has now been repaired and is potentially safe and eligible to be considered road-worthy.

This is a multi-step process:

  1. Come into Richmond Road Registry to purchase a Salvage/write-off Inspection Request Form (see below) which you will take to a qualified inspection facility.
  2. If the car meets the provincial government standards you will receive a green inspection certificate.
  3. Bring the inspection certificate back into the Richmond Road Registry office.
  4. Once the certificate is entered into the system the vehicle is eligible to be registered.

PLEASE NOTE: Once your out of province inspection is completed you only have 14 calendar days the bring the green inspection form back to a registry office to have the vehicle certification entered into the system. This must be done whether the vehicle is being registered or not.
