WHAT IS AN ALBERTA OUT-of-province DUPLICATE LICENCE?
An Alberta out-of-province duplicate licence can be obtained if you are an Alberta resident and temporarily out of the province. This duplicate licence is for Code “F” (Class 5) licences only.
This situation may apply to:
- Students attending an accredited school on a full time basis outside of Alberta.
- Missionaries working for an Alberta-based organization
- Alberta residents temporarily vacationing outside of Alberta.
- Military personnel and families stationed outside of Alberta.
How do you get a DUPLICATE out-of-province licence?

You must prove you are an Alberta resident and provide the following documents:
- Your passport
- A signed letter of explanation for the request
- The date you left Alberta and when you intend to return
- Your current Alberta address
- Mailing address and instructions for the delivery of the licence
- A medical report and/or vision screening MAY be required.
- Supporting documents (ie: proof of student status or missionary organization)
