The final step in the Graduated Drivers Licencing Program is to become a fully licenced driver by getting an advanced drivers licence.

Want to GET an advanced class 5 licence road test permit?

The Class 5 Advanced exam is offered for two types of drivers:

1. New Driver to Canada:who has held a previous licence in another country: You must complete the learners exam guidelines. Once that is completed you may be eligible to do the Class 5 Advanced road test if:
   • You use a vehicle that is in proper working order
   • You have at least two years driving experience in your home country
   • The government has approved your home country drivers licence
   • You have a Class 7 licence in your possession
2. Current Holder of a Class 5 GDL Licence: once you have successfully completed the Basic Class 5 licence requirements, you may be eligible to take the Class 5 Advanced road test if:
• You use a vehicle that is in proper working order
• You have held your Class 5 GDL licence for at least 2 years
• You are suspension free for the last year of your GDL program
